Boat Trips on Bonaire

Choosing a boat trip on Bonaire

Bonaire is an island you should see from the water at least once. The reef starts a few metres from shore, Klein Bonaire sits half a mile off the coast like a private island, and the leeward sea is so sheltered that even confirmed landlubbers stay comfortable. The question isn't whether to go out — it's which trip fits your day.

Most boat tours here are motor catamarans. Compass runs one boat, differently: a 14-metre Bavaria C46 sailing yacht that crossed the Atlantic to get here, sailed by a small crew that turns the engine off whenever the wind allows. Small groups, proper food and drinks, no rush. These are the four ways to join us.

Which trip is right for you?

Short on time or visiting by cruise ship? The morning Sail & Snorkel is three hours dock-to-dock, gear included, and built around ship schedules — the easiest $49 you'll spend on the island. Read the cruise excursion guide for timing details.

Here for the sunset? The sunset cruise is our signature: aperitivo, open bar, and the sun dropping behind Klein Bonaire. Hungry for more than snacks? Dinner at Sea adds a real table, real wine and four hours on the water. Celebrating something? Take the whole yacht.

Every trip departs from the floating dock at Plaza Resort Marina, 80 Julio Abraham Boulevard, Kralendijk — five minutes from the airport, minutes from the cruise terminal, with easy parking at the resort. All bookings are online with instant confirmation.

Good to know

Questions, answered.

What's the most affordable boat trip on Bonaire?
Our morning Sail & Snorkel at $49 per person — three hours under sail with a guided snorkel stop, gear, a light lunch and an open bar included. It's priced for cruise visitors but everyone is welcome.
Do the trips run year-round?
Yes. Bonaire lies outside the hurricane belt, the leeward coast is sheltered, and the trade winds are steady in every season. We only cancel when winds exceed 22 knots — and then you choose a free reschedule or a full refund.
I'm visiting by cruise ship — which trip fits a port day?
The morning Sail & Snorkel was designed for exactly that: departures at 8:30 and 9:00 AM from a marina minutes from the cruise terminal, and you're back with a comfortable buffer before all-aboard. See our shore excursion guide for the full timing story.
Can we have the boat to ourselves?
Yes — the private charter gives you the entire yacht with crew for four hours, up to ten guests, with dinner at sea included, for $1,800.
What about the STINAPA nature fee?
Everyone entering the water of the Bonaire National Marine Park — snorkelling included — needs the STINAPA nature fee: $45 per person for non-residents, valid the whole calendar year. Buy it in advance at bonairenaturefee.org and keep the QR code on your phone. For sailing without swimming, no fee is required.
